Lead Facilitator - Jeremy Steffler

Jeremy Steffler has been a volunteer and organizer within Waterloo Region's Rainbow Community for over 20 years.

Jeremy was a long-time volunteer for what is now known as the Glow Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity, co-ordinating their peer support and information telephone line from 1999 until 2012 (13 years). Jeremy Is currently Lead Facilitator for the WNDG, a weekly support and social group for the local rainbow community- a role he has held since June 2001. Jeremy is also currently chair of the Waterloo Region Rainbow Coalition (an organization he helped found in 2011) and co-chair of the Rainbow Community Council. Jeremy also developed and continues to facilitate a workshop on sexual orientation & gender identity as part of the University of Waterloo's Award-Winning Principles of Inclusivity program.

Jeremy has been recognized for his leadership within Waterloo Region's Rainbow Community, most recently as one of the Record's Top 40 Under 40 (2013) and as the 2014 recipient of the University of Waterloo Faculty Association Status of Women and Equity Committee's Equity & Inclusivity Award. 

In addition to his work with the local rainbow community, Jeremy has been twice elected to the board of the University of Waterloo Staff Association, currently sits as a staff representative on the University of Waterloo Board of Governors, volunteers his time as a mediator with Community Justice Initiatives, and facilitates workshops for Conrad Grebel University College’s certificate program in Conflict Management and Mediation. 

By day, Jeremy is a professional engineer and works full-time as a Faculty Relations Manager in the Co-operative Education and Career Action department at the University of Waterloo.
